Ici, contre toute attente, un remarquable a vu le jour : Oban Little Bay Highland Single Malt Scotch.
Ce dont nous parlons ici, c'est que le Scotch est devenu, si possible, encore plus sophistiqué. Encore plus nuancé. Encore plus gratifiant pour l'attrapeur de saveurs enthousiaste attiré par le scotch en premier lieu. Oban Little Bay ouvre la voie, à mon avis, à une nouvelle ère du scotch.
Il s'agit d'un Scotch "accordé". Et j'entends par là un single malt dont les saveurs ont été soigneusement calibrées pour une unicité super appétissante. Ce miracle récompense le palais comme n'importe laquelle des marques légendaires qui proposent des prix beaucoup plus élevés, rien qu'à force d'indiquer l'âge ! Croyez-moi, 30 ans dans un tonneau pourri, ce n'est pas une bonne affaire ! Le scotch sort de mauvaise humeur !
Je veux dire, pensez-y, de toute façon, en ces termes : la demande mondiale de single malts vieux de plusieurs décennies est plus élevée que jamais. Et il est impossible qu'une distillerie microscopique comme Oban, tordant toujours ses cuves à vers et allumant ses minuscules alambics jumeaux, puisse suivre la soif océanique du monde... alors... ils ont développé de nouveaux arts de la distillation.
Ils créent des mariages de mai à septembre, également connus sous le nom de « maturation interactive », pour permettre aux malts de différents âges de se mélanger pour produire de merveilleuses nouvelles complexités de saveurs. En utilisant des fûts de chêne de sherry européen, dans d'autres, des fûts de chêne américain, et dans d'autres, remplir des fûts avec des fonds de chêne neufs. À partir de ces petits fûts traditionnels, Oban mesure soigneusement différents millésimes ensemble pour obtenir le nouveau "Oban-ness" idéal.
Et c'est un goût, comme toujours avec Oban, qui vous colle à la peau. C'est l'expression classique des Highlands : formant des notes d'agrumes, la moindre (et je veux dire trace) brin de fumée se termine par un léger crépitement d'enrobage de sucre pour former une barrière protectrice de marque pour le tractus oto-rhino-laryngologique, le nez, les oreilles et la gorge. En d'autres termes, exactement le genre de potation préventive que vous voulez en tant que chalutier par un matin froid lorsque l'Atlantique Nord gifle la "Petite Baie" (gaélique : Oban) un peu idiote. C'est un "pull intérieur" si vous voulez, utilisé depuis longtemps pour lutter contre le catarrhe occasionnel.
C'est bon aussi. Et à ce prix, attendez-vous à une pénurie bientôt !

Returns and Refunds
