Occasionally sherry casks dominate the whisky laid to rest in them. Not so here. While the sherry is certainly rich and present, it is equally well integrated. Berries and peaches erupt from the glass on the nose. The palate tones down the sweet fruits slightly and adds peppers, lemon-lime soda, and a Madeira-like tart/sweet mix. And in a pleasantly surprising finish for a 43% whisky, you get Coca Cola, black cherry, caramel, ginger, and nutty, rubbery notes before closing with grassy vegetal tones. A Scotch with breadth and depth, that evolves the more you taste.
