Amrut Distilleries Pvt Ltd. is an Indian distillery best known for its Amrut single malt whiskey. Founded in 1948 by J.N. Radhakrishna Rao Jagdale, Amrut Distilleries initially began as a supplier of blended Indian spirits. However, it wasn't until 2004 that Amrut gained international recognition with the release of its single malt whiskey. The decision to produce single malt whiskey was born out of a desire to challenge the notion that quality whiskey could only come from Scotland.
