Founded in 1812 by Captain William Fraser, the ROYAL BRACKLA distillery is one of the oldest distilleries in the world. The single malt quickly attracted the favour of the King himself, proving that its royal title was more than just a name. Honoured in 1833 by order of King William IV, it was the first whisky to receive the royal title. In 1838, Queen Victoria repeated the honours, making ROYAL BRACKLA one of the most highly rated whiskies of its generation.

Royal Brackla was the very first Scottish distillery to receive 'royal' status when, in 1833, it was bestowed upon them by King William IV. Most of the distillery's production goes into Dewar's blends, but as with other Dewar's distilleries a single malt range has been launched as part of the Last Great Malts. For the Royal Brackla Oloroso casks have been used for a luxurious, regal feel, with beautiful packaging to match.

Its gentle, herbaceous flavours result from its meticulous production process that reaches its apogee in a 72-hour fermentation process - the longest in the industry. It is also distilled in taller stills than most. After maturing first in bourbon casks, its 6 month sherry cask finish gives it a fruity, sweet finish that melts in the mouth.
