The year was 1950, and the Korean War begins and Uruguay beats Brazil to win the World Cup. The biggest ever robbery at the time occurred at Brink Express Co. in Boston, when 11 thieves stole over $3.7 million in 17 minutes. J. Edgar Hoover and the F.B.I would spend $129 million over several years to catch the perpetrators. In the UK, the Labour Party, led by Clement Attlee, wins the 1950 General Election.
And the Macallan released exactly 433 bottles at 46.7% abv of this amazing whiskey, worldwide.
The Macallan Fine & Rare 1950 52YO Tasting Notes:
Aroma:Ā Rich citrus lemons with peat smoke. Forward floral character almost perfume to the fore.
Palate: Lemony and peaty, hints of spice and wood.
Finish: Lemons and smoky peat notes with light wood.
