Review by FWL Contributing Editor Commander Glendidit

With Hillrock Single Malt, you taste the change of seasons. I mean, it?s as though one?s actually imbibing Autumn in New England. Using New England Peat from deep in the mossy forest, Hillrock owner Jeff Baker and Master Distiller Dave Pickerell have created a whiskey as truly ?Locally-Sourced? as anything a banjo- or gusla-strumming hill-person could offer you, and as refined and pedigreed as anything raised in toast by my kilt-wearing cousins to the German woman who pretends to the British Throne.

The handsome decanter bottle spills forth its amber essence and your whiskey sensors take you down a forgotten trail where the trees blaze forth golden-orange-winedark, with a misting of fallen oak leaf and red maple, the smoke and snap of sappy pine and acorns popping off in the fire; a peatsmoke fullness to the air with just a lick of blackstrap and forgotten Halloween candy to twist it to a lip-smacking close. Yum-O, as we used to say. It is sipping whiskey warmth of unparalleled fitness for our inevitable voyage into Winter.
ÿ
Hillrock Smoky Single Malt is a taste to be remembered, even while you are drinking it.

The Commander's Tasting Notes:

Color: Honey Amber

Nose: CrŠme brulee and shortbread with caramelized orange and heather

Taste: Balanced and smooth, with faint citrus notes, rounded off with toffee, dried fruit, cinnamon and clove

Finish: Long and slightly dry, yet spicy with a delicate, lingering smokiness

ForWhiskeyLovers.com Shipping & Returns FAQ

1. Do I need to be home to sign for my order?

Yes. Federal law requires an adult signature (21+ years old) for all alcohol deliveries. Couriers will check ID at the time of delivery. If no adult is available, the package may be returned. No exceptions can be made.

2. How long does it take to process and ship my order?

  • Orders are processed and shipped Monday through Friday only.

  • Please allow 1–2 business days for processing. During high-volume periods, such as holidays, processing may take up to 5 business days.

  • Saver shipping (where available) may take 5–7 days to receive local carrier tracking, with delivery typically 5–7 business days after tracking is assigned.

  • Ground shipping times are estimates only and not guaranteed by the carriers.

  • We are unable to guarantee specific delivery dates.

3. What happens if delivery is unsuccessful?

  • Carriers will attempt delivery three times before returning the order.

  • Additional delivery attempts may require an extra delivery fee.

  • Orders returned due to incorrect addresses, failed delivery attempts, or recipient refusal will be refunded minus a 20% restocking fee and all shipping charges.

4. Can shipments be delayed due to weather?

Yes. Many of our products are fragile and heat-sensitive. To prevent heat or freeze damage, shipments may be delayed at our discretion.

  • ForWhiskeyLovers.com is not responsible for damage caused by extreme weather once packages are in the hands of ground couriers.

5. Can you ship to P.O. Boxes, APO/FPO, or freight forwarders?

No. We cannot ship to P.O. Boxes, Army Post Offices (APO), Fleet Post Offices (FPO), or freight forwarding companies.

6. Do you ship bottles in original packaging?

Not always. Bottles are not guaranteed to arrive in original packaging unless specifically requested.

  • If original packaging is required, please include a note on your order.

  • Additional shipping fees may apply for special packaging requests.

7. What is your return policy?

Due to state regulations, alcohol returns are only accepted if the product is spoiled.

  • If a bottle is significantly damaged during transit, we will refund or replace it. Please email hello@forwhiskeylovers.com with photos of the damaged product and packaging.

  • All bottles are inspected before shipping.

  • Website images are for illustration purposes only. Product editions, batches, or packaging may vary unless specifically stated in the description.

  • Engraved or personalized bottles are non-refundable unless damaged. If returned after failed delivery attempts, refunds will not be issued, and customers will incur return shipping fees.
