Three bourbons are blended together to make High West Bourbon. They are:
Whiskey #1: 2-year-old bourbon MGP Seagrams Indiana; mashbill 75% corn, 20% rye, 5% barley malt.
â¢Whiskey #2: 6-year-old bourbon from Kentucky (source unknown).
â¢Whiskey #3: 13-year-old bourbon from Kentucky (source unknown).
Tasting Notes:
Nose: A subtle, albeit pleasant, nose on the first pour. Opens up into a floraled butter corn, cotton candy, and fruit nose.
Taste: Candy sweetness is the first thing which explodes on your tongue. Super sweet, but it has a relatively dry mouthful throughout, meaning the sweetness does not overtake the senses in a more syrupy bourbon.
Finish: Short rye spice and pecan pie, never overwhelming.
High West is dedicated to preserving and promoting the American West. American Prairie is a superb premium bourbon whiskey dedicated to one of the greatest land preservation projects of our time. The American Prairie Reserve in Montana is a 5000 Square mile land tract the size of Connecticut restored to what Lewis and Clark would have seen. High West will donate 10% of after tax profits from each bottle to the American Prairie Foundation.
