Spring 44 Distillery

Inspired by a natural spring located on a 10,000 Mountain in Colorado’s Buckhorn Canyon

Spring44 is inspired by a natural spring located on a 10,000’ Mountain in Colorado’s Buckhorn Canyon.

The property is extremely remote, accessible only by navigating an 11-mile dirt road, culminating with a 2.5-mile jeep trail climbing 2,000 feet of elevation.  The property has the distinction of being surrounded by 160,000 acres of National Forest.

In 1969, Don Lindauer purchased this land in an extremely remote area in the northern Colorado Rocky Mountains. Jeff Lindauer, Don’s son, has been drinking from a spring there since he was a small boy.

In the fall of 2008, Jeff and his friend Russ Wall, a marketing guru, were observing the tradition of drinking from the spring (a coveted ritual) and inspiration occurred – eventually leading to the idea of using the water from this extremely high quality resource as the foundation for creating craft spirits. Jeff McPhie, another friend and operational genius, joined the company in 2010 and built the distillery in Loveland, Colorado. Shortly thereafter, Robin Marisco, a veteran of Coors, joined Spring44 to run finance and administration.

The Spring44 team has subsequently set the course to build the premier American Craft Spirits brand based on core values of quality, sustainability, authenticity and transparency.
