Awarded Best Single Malt in the World in 2005 by Whisky Magazine, Original Cask Strength Laphroaig is bottled at natural distillery strength with all the depth of genuine taste and texture normally associated with sampling whisky at source.

Laphroaig is matured in seasoned oak barrels, charred before filling to impart a slight sweet vanilla nuttiness. The original Cask Strength Laphroaig is then barrier-filtered only just, to remove the small char particles present. This means you will enjoy Laphroaig exactly as made. In extremes of temperature and when you add water it may appear a little cloudy - this is the natural condition of a malt of such a peaty pungence and uncompromising purity.

From Tastings.com: Medium amber color. Robust aromas of toffee, iodine, peat, and heather. A round entry leads to a vibrant, off-dry full body of dried cherries and peaches, dried heather, vanilla bean, cinnamon and other brown spices. finishes with a sweet honeyed rye toast fade. Exceptionally flavorful and pure. The difference between this and the regular bottling is a testimony to the benefits of non-chill-filtering. (tasted on May-16-2007)
