18th Anniversary Gift Ideas

My husband is a Scotch drinker (I am not) and I want to get him a bottle of really good 18 year old scotch. Since I am not a Scotch drinker, I don't know what is a good bottle.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Do you know which ones he likes now?  If he has many bottles and you do not know which he likes the best then look for the bottle with the least left in it!

There are so many choices that without knowing at least one he likes, it will be tough.  Even knowing if he likes a "Peated Whisky" or not would help.

Great gift idea, btw!

At minimum we would at least need to know if he prefered peated or sherried whiskies.  There are definitly some good options at the 18 years old range.  I hope my wife decides to get me a well matured whisky for one of our anniversaries.

He said the best Scotch he has had so far is the Glenmorangie (sp?) 10 year old Single Malt.

Your husband's taste may be similar to mine.  I enjoy many of the Glenmorangie Scotches but they have a few I do not care for.  Their 18 year old is very good and is about $100 to $125.  They have a Glenmorangie "Discovery Pack" on here that has the 10 year old and three 50 ml samplers of some of their other whisky's for $50.  There is a Blog post just put on here about that exact pack.

My personal favorite Scotch for a "not too high" price is the Glenmoragie Signet, about $200 to $235.

Glenlivet and Glenfiddich have some very good whiskys in the 18 year old range.  Glenfiddich as a "sampler pack" of 12, 15 and 18 year old that can be difficult to find but that allows him to explore and compare all 3.   It is very hard to go wrong with either of these.

I will be opening a bottle of Glenfarclas 21 today at a tasting at my house.  I can let you know how that is later.

Do these suggests help any or would you like additional suggestions?

Thank you so much for your help! I can't wait to see what he thinks!

I had a tasting at my house yesterday and someone brought Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban -- it was fantastic!  I believe their take the Glenmorangie 10 year old and then "finish it" in port casks for 2 years for a 12 year old.  While this is not a 18 year old, it is a very nice whisky!

Anniversaries are hard to remember occasionally, specifically if you never do anything too special to them. Do not forget your wedding anniversary this year. Get a payday loan and purchase your spouse that large present they have wanted for so long. They probably deserve it, and when you have ever overlooked an anniversary in the past, you probably need to make up for it. Get more info at: Payday Loan

Which whisky did you get him? Did he like it?

Slainte,

Thanks a bunch for this. I signed up for this site to do a bit of research as well, as a gift for a friend. I know he likes scotch from the Highlands, and I was considering the Glenmorangie 18 year. It's a bit above my price range, but I think it would be a special gift. All the reviews I've seen online indicate it being quite good.

How does shipping from here work? I'm worried that the packing slip will include the price in it, as it is a gift. We don't live in the same state, so I have to ship directly to my friend.

I am pretty sure you can have it send as a gift.  The staff on this site are great and have the best communication.

Cheerio!
