Talisker is the only distillery on the Isle of Skye and was originally founded in 1830. The first Talisker distillery was built in 1831, however it has since been completely rebuilt after it was lost in a fire in 1960. Exact replicas of the original stills were built for the new distillery in an effort to preserve the unique Talisker flavour.
A wonderful award-winning Island malt bottled at above average strength with a comforting smooth afterglow. Brilliant gold in appearance. A nose of peat-smoke with sea-water saltiness, the liquor of fresh oysters, a citrus sweetness. A rich dried-fruit sweetness with clouds of smoke and strong barley-malt flavors, warming and intense. At the back of the mouth is an explosion of pepper. Huge, long, peppery finish with an appetising sweetness.
Nose: Thick, pungent smoke. Notes of kippers, seaweed, apple peels. Fresh and fragrant.
Palate: Full bodied with huge plumes of smoke and volcanic, peppery peat. Intense.
Finish: Long finish, barley, malt.
