A limited edition, natural cask strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky from Cragganmore, an active distillery in Speyside. Matured in three cask types chosen for flavor alone: refill & rejuvenated American Oak hogsheads and ex-bodega European Oak butts. Beautifully structured, with a soft sweet nose that shows off distillery character to the full. Compelling intense palate that gradually dries in a clever interplay between oak and malt to a long warming finish.
The 15th of a limited series of annual releases that are very rare, highly sought after and will only be available a little longer. Earlier and far larger releases in this series now change hands among collectors for up to ten times their original SRP.
Tasting Notes:
Color: Warm yellow-gold, with good beading
Aroma: Warming and welcoming. Fresh, with traces of beeswax, then orange zest and fruit salad on a base of soft malt loaf. With time, a balanced spicy acidity, followed by ripe red apple
Body: Medium, smooth
Palate: Smooth with a sweet start. Sugary and intense, soon becoming more drying with cedar then slowly developing beautiful notes of cocoa and liquorice and mushrooms.
Finish: Long and cleansing, growing charred like burnt fruit. Subtle smoke and spice with water.
