Once considered the whisky producing capitol of Scotland

At one point in the history of Scottish Whisky Production the region and city known as Campbeltown so flourished as a whisky producing region that the city of Campbeltown was considered to be the whisky capital of Scotland.

In 1886 there were as many as 21 distilleries in and around the city. Today only three distilleries remain, yet purest still consider Campbeltown a separate whisky producing region.
