Pursuit Spirits recently announced the brand is coming back with its Pursuit United Oak Collection Bourbon Finished with Toasted American and French Oak.
The re-release, Batch #4CD, is a formula developed by Master Blender Ryan Cecil, where he described the bourbon as having balanced flavors of different oak finishes through a double blending process.
A statement from Pursuit United explained that this release features a base blend made from 10 barrels selected from three different distilleries in Kentucky (Bardstown Bourbon Company), Tennessee (Undisclosed not Tullahoma), and New York (Finger Lakes Distilling).
The whiskey makers described the process as dividing the blend into proprietary ratios and imparting the two oak flavor profiles individually in a finishing vessel. Once each component has the desired amount of toasted or French oak character, the two are blended together again.
Co-founder and master blender, Ryan Cecil, said that like the original release, this whiskey features aromas of flamed orange peel followed by dusted dark chocolate and roasted nuts on the nose.
On the palate, he said, are chocolate flavors like a hazelnut spread along with cherry cola. The finish features notes of toasted oak, cloves, and black pepper.
“The Oak Collection is another facet to our commitment in delivering high-quality, small-batch whiskeys,” Cecil said. “I want to create new and bold flavors that captivate a whiskey enthusiast who wants something fun and creative.”
Kenny Coleman, co-founder, said they’re thrilled to re-introduce Pursuit United Oak Collection Bourbon. “Ryan has done an incredible job of creating a bourbon that plays well with both the toasted American and French oak finishes, and we can’t wait for our customers to get it once again.”
Pursuit United Oak Collection Bourbon Finished with Toasted American and French Oak clocks in at 108 proof, and is available in CO, GA, KY, MO, NM, OH, TN, TX, and online at seelbachs.com. It has a suggested retail price of $74.99.
