The makers of Chattanooga Whiskey recently announced the latest release in their Bottled in Bond Vintage Series, the Spring 2019 Vintage.
In a prepared statement, Chattanooga officials explained that this fifth release in the series was made exclusively at the Chattanooga Whiskey Riverfront Distillery, and crafted from a variety of bourbon mash bills, each composed of at least 25% specialty malted grains.
When a bourbon is labeled bottled in bond, it must be the product of one distillation season, one distiller, from one distillery, and in one style. Legally, it must be aged in a federally bonded warehouse for at least four years and bottled at 100 proof.

For this vintage, Chattanooga barreled the bourbon from January 2019 through June 2019, and the expression features two high-malt mash bills: SB091, their signature “Barrel 91″ recipe, and B005, a wheated high-malt recipe.
The distiller noted that 40% of the entire blend was aged in custom-toasted and charred barrels.
“Each Bottled in Bond vintage is an opportunity for our distillers to express the wide range of flavors and aromas inherent to our Tennessee High Malt style,” said Grant McCracken, founding distiller for Chattanooga. “This particular vintage highlights the interplay between two of our more delicately flavored mash bills, and uses a portion of long-toasted barrels to add additional layers of confectionary-rich complexity.”
The Spring 2019 Vintage was made in four batches of 10 barrels each, and the distiller’s notes show the bourbon offers aromas and tastes of pecan praline, vanilla custard, and figgy pudding, with a toasty oak finish.
Bottled in Bond: Spring 2019 Vintage is available at the Chattanooga Whiskey Experimental Distillery and across TN, GA, FL, TX, IL, IN, and SC for a suggested retail price of $52.99 for a 750ml bottle.
